Every Maelove product is vegan and cruelty-free. No animal testing at any stage, and no animal-derived ingredients in any formula. Our suppliers and third-party labs hold to the same standard.

PETA-CERTIFIED

We're certified by PETA and listed on their Global Beauty Without Bunnies registry. Brands on the list sign a binding commitment: no animal testing on ingredients, finished products, or through suppliers.

Vegan and cruelty-free aren't the same thing

People use the labels interchangeably. They describe different things.

Cruelty-Free
No animal testing at any stage: not ingredients, not finished products, not a single step of the supply chain.
Vegan
No animal-derived ingredients: no beeswax, no lanolin, no carmine, no honey, no animal keratin.

A product can be one without the other. Maelove is both.

What that looks like in practice

No testing, anywhere in the supply chain
We don't test on animals, and our ingredient suppliers and manufacturing partners hold to the same commitment.
No animal-derived ingredients
Every formula is built from plant-derived and synthetic actives. Many of the most effective skincare ingredients (niacinamide, retinaldehyde, peptides) are made through lab synthesis, which often delivers more stable, consistent results than extraction from natural sources.

Quick FAQ

Is Maelove PETA-certified?

Yes. You can verify our listing in PETA's cruelty-free database.

What's the difference between vegan and cruelty-free?

Vegan means no animal-derived ingredients. Cruelty-free means no animal testing. They overlap, but they're not synonyms. Maelove is both.

Are synthetic ingredients allowed in vegan skincare?

Yes. "Vegan" only describes the absence of animal-derived ingredients. It doesn't mean "all natural." Many of the most effective actives, like niacinamide and retinaldehyde, are made through lab synthesis, which often delivers more stable, consistent results than extraction.

How do I know a brand is actually cruelty-free?

Look for a brand on a recognized cruelty-free registry like PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies or the Leaping Bunny Program. Both require formal, signed commitments covering ingredients, finished products, and third-party suppliers. A brand self-claim without any registration isn't the same level of accountability.
